Carved Bowl, 6th century, Guatemala or Mexico, Mesoamerica, Maya, Ceramic, H. 6 3/4 x Diam. 9 1/4 in., Ceramics-Containers, This magnificent high-gloss blackware bowl is decorated with carved and incised feathered serpents. Profile human figures are seated in front of their bearded jaws. The bodies of the serpents undulate with regularity around the circumference of the vessel.

Design for a fountain with an obelisk, ca. 1760–1780 , Pen and ink over graphite and watercolor, Frame: 17 5/16 x 18 1/8 in. (44 x 46 cm), Anonymous, 18th century (possibly French), Neoclassical fountain in the style of Delafosse, Boullée and Ledoux. The fountain is placed on a plateau and has the shape of an obelisk on a pedestal. Water emerges on all four sides (only three sides are visible).

The subject has been variously identified. It probably shows the capture of Carthage by Cornelius Scipio Aemilianus (known as Scipio Africanus the Younger) in 146 B.
